Perinatal yoga is a gentle, tailored practice that supports women throughout pregnancy (prenatal yoga) and the postpartum period (postnatal yoga), in tune with the physical, emotional, and hormonal changes of this transformative time. Its purpose is to promote overall well-being, encourage a more conscious birthing experience, and aid recovery after childbirth.

Prenatal Yoga (During Pregnancy)

Prenatal yoga includes poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques specifically designed to:
  • Relieve common physical discomforts (back pain, heavy legs, shortness of breath, pelvic tension, etc.)
  • Improve posture and body alignment
  • Encourage pelvic mobility and body awareness in preparation for birth
  • Learn how to breathe and release tension consciously during contractions
  • Build confidence in oneself, one’s body, and the birthing process
  • Connect with the baby in utero
  • Mentally and emotionally prepare for childbirth
There is no performance goal: the practice is adapted to each trimester and the energy of the moment.

Postnatal Yoga (After Birth)

Often practiced with the baby, postnatal yoga aims to:
  • Support physical recovery after childbirth (toning of the pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscles, increased flexibility)
  • Alleviate tension caused by carrying or breastfeeding
  • Restore deeper breathing and postural alignment
  • Enhance emotional well-being (reduce fatigue, stress, baby blues)
  • Strengthen the mother–baby bond through shared experiences
  • Offer the mother a nurturing space to reconnect with herself

Perinatal yoga is not a substitute for medical care or childbirth preparation, but it is an excellent complement - fostering a more serene, mindful, and connected experience of motherhood.
